Ian to raise money for Knowledge and Socialist Thought Institute in Palestine

ian-sutcliffe

I’m Ian Sutcliffe. I am the Branch International Relations Officer for Rochdale Local Government UNISON. I am also a delegate to North West UNISON International Relations Committee.

I am running 10km on the 25th of September for the first time from Rochdale Town Hall, mainly for exercise but I thought- “What a great opportunity to raise money for an organisation which I have heard so much about from my colleagues who have visited Palestine.”

A bit about KSTI: I first heard about Institute at a Regional Council in 2014 when a speaker from Labour Friends of Palestine told us that since the recent conflict in Palestine, many adult education books are in short supply. There is not a shortage of socialist books and trade union training materials in English but there is a lack of socialist books and trade union training materials in Arabic.

The main function of the KSTI is to train mainly young women trade unionists and socialists how to organise and campaign in the workplace and in society, under extremely difficult conditions.

Many branches have already made a donation to the KSTI. If your branch has not, please ask them to do so and also send this out to your branch activists to ask UNISON members and non-members for individual donations.

Please make cheques Payable to :- ‘Friends of Knowledge & Socialist Thought Institute, Palestine (FKSTI)’, FKSTI, c/o UNISON NORTH WEST REGIONAL CENTRE, ARENA POINT, 1 HUNTS BANK, MANCHESTER M3 1UN

Bank Transfers can be made to :- Account Number: 20356886 Sort Code: 60-83-01

Many thanks for your support!

Ian
